Midwest Polite was born from designing a gift for far-away friends, and I quickly escalated from instagram and facebook posts with pictures of my stickers into a really easy to use store builder, Big Cartel.

Big Cartel was a great place to get started, but as soon as I had a design that didn’t fit Midwest Polite, I recognized that I’d found the downside of starting a store there around one creative brand. I hadn’t given myself any room to have other ideas. I went ahead and put that one design into a different storefront online, and proceeded to get zero sales. I had already invested in sending attention to my Midwest Polite store, but had no messaging there to bring people already interested in what I make to somewhere new.

After plenty of time dragging my feet, I decided it was best to embrace the ADHD tendency to bounce between interests wildly, and give myself a central hub where diverse brands could cross-pollinate, and where I would have a space to make posts like this, talking about what I’m making and what I’m interested in.

So now you’ll find Midwest Polite as a page on dennisbingham.net, right along side Gregarious Grizzly, Dinofeathers, and whatever other extremely professional brand names I come up with. I’m excited to be launching more designs for Midwest polite, and building out other projects that let me keep making things when I’m chasing dopamine in a different direction.

Thank You to everyone who has stayed subscribed to my email alerts, and checked in on the store periodically when I haven’t had anything new to share. It’s still a thrill when people like my work enough to have it on the things they use daily, and I can’t wait to get more of it into your hands.
